Westward Bound

We’ve been absent from posting for longer than we intended.  I ended last year’s adventures with what I thought was a relatively minor knee injury.  I instead spent the winter and spring in physical therapy getting back to a semblance of the trail fitness I had last year.  That being said, we haven’t been idle.  We’ve continued working our way through the National Park Service sites, and after trips to Washington D.C. and Arizona, we’ve now managed to visit over half of the 430+ NPS sites (more on that later).

We’re headed out for our next big trip now, which will take us through most of the summer.  We’ll be visiting friends, family, and NPS sites along the way, but the bulk of the trip will be living with our close friends, Matt and Jessi, in Portland.

The last couple weeks have been spent prepping for the summer adventures.  Angela and the kids focused on spending time with homeschooling friends and exploring spring in Ohio.  I sorted out work details for three months of remote work.  We all spent a lot of time on housework, yardwork, and packing.  If that wasn’t enough to do, we also fostered 6 kittens from a stray in the neighborhood for a week and a half.  After a very busy final day of packing, we’re now on the road to spend a week with family in Des Moines.
