Bat Boy and I headed out on trail today for a planned 55 mile stretch from Frog Lake to Cascade Locks. This is the first of the trips with each of the kids for some 1-on-1 time. Blue Lizard drove us to trail and walked the first half mile with us. The trail was easy today with a mostly smooth dirt surface and reasonable grades. Most of the hike was in dense forests.
Our plan was to camp within 2 miles of Timberline Lodge so we could get there first thing the next morning for their famed breakfast buffet. The miles went by quickly and we made the 8 miles to camp with plenty of time to spare. We ate dinner and got in the tent when we realized we had good enough cell service to stream movies. We watched the first half of the new Lightyear movie before going to bed.

Movie and a buffet? That’s my kind of backpacking!
