I was planning on getting back on trail today, but after pushing 180 miles in the last 8 days I decided to take a day off. My feet still ache and felt a bit swollen when I woke up. I booked another night, walked into town for breakfast and groceries and the headed back to my room to put my feet up. I did almost nothing the rest of the day.
I’ve struggled in figuring out where to go back on trail next. I’m heading towards a stretch where 85 of the next 105 miles is burnt. It sounds potentially miserable, especially with the heat wave moving in over the next few days, and im tempted to skip it, but I also don’t want to get to the end of the trail and regret not having done it. I look at this as one the “embrace the suck” moments of trail life and decide to continue through the burns. I’ll let you know in a few days if this was a bad choice.
Hang in there! You can do it!!!!! On the 16th there will be a Buck Full Moon. Hope it guides you and brings you joy as push on.
