PCT: Day 112

I made an early start hoping to get around 24 miles in today, but was dealing with some knee pain from yesterday’s 5000ft of descent. I soon realized this was related to IT band tightness I’ve had off and on and when to work rolling and stretching it which improved things quickly. I ran into a couple friends around 7am that I haven’t seen in weeks and hiked with them until lunch which happened to be some awesome trail magic.

I departed after lunch on my own wanting to cover another 10 miles by the end of the day. The terrain mellowed significantly after lunch and let me cruise through much if the afternoon and I to the evening. Views were incredible the entire way. I got into camp around 7pm after 23 miles, we’ll positioned to pick up my next resupply in South Lake Tahoe in a day and a half.

  1. Happy 4th!
Have you been able to see the moon and 5 planets trailing it in the southwest sky early morning? Doesn’t happen for another 50 years. I think you can see it for another few days.
Bet it’s different without family. You are doing amazing miles.
Uncle Rich says you can play “ticket to ride” in your head!
106 heat index here today. Horrible pollution and a bear sited 2 miles from Sullivan house. We missed it but are hopeful.
Keeping in step with you! Be safe.
