PCT: Days 74-77

We took day 74 off to relax in Idyllwild which included going into to town for ice cream and meeting the mayor of Idyllwild, a golden retriever named Max.

We packed up the next day and drove first to Tehachapi so Waterboy could pick up an 8 mile stretch through a wind farm that we skipped the first time through.  Everyone else went into Tehachapi to eat at the German Bakery. The hike was a quick but boring stretch of mostly barren landscape. After the hike we made our way to Ridgecrest for the night.

The next day, number 76, was spent in Ridgecrest taking care of uneventful resupply shopping. Day 77 was a busy final prep day for the Sierra. We started by driving to the Cottonwood Pass campground to drop off 3 days worth of food in a bear box. We’d be hiking through here in a few days, and this allowed us to carry less food coming out of Kennedy Meadows. We then drove in to Lone Pine for breakfast and also caught up with the Daley’s who were taking a zero there.

After that we drove to Kennedy Meadows to pickup a package that was late getting to us the first time through. We also met up with General to discuss logistics for starting the Sierra the next day. We then drove back to Ridgecrest, again, and packed everything for tomorrow’s start.
