PCT: Day 73

I took my time getting into of camp this morning since Blue Lizard and the kids would be hiking up a few miles to bring me more food and to help keep their trail legs. I covered more miles yesterday than I had planned so only had 6 miles to cover to get to our meeting point. We met around 9am, and I was back on trail by 10.

Most of the rest of this section was going to be downhill with a 20 mile water carry. Sometime around noon I realized that I could either camp in a hot, exposed area or put in another long day and be finished. Most of the downhill was smooth trail, and the only real delay was a rattlesnake I had to encourage to get off the trail. I pushed the rest of the miles and finished around 7pm with an almost 30 mile day. Blue Lizard’s parents drove her and the kids to pick me up, and we went straight to In-n-Out before heading back to the cabin.
