Blue Lizard’s parents drop me (Waterboy) off at the trailhead around 6am for what’s planned as a 3 day trip from Highway 74 to I-10. The morning starts cool and I move quickly despite today being almost entirely uphill. The trail is surprisingly empty, and I don’t see any other hikers until I’m 10 miles in.
The day warms up quickly and it’s hot by the time I stop for lunch. I get swarmed by biting flies when I attempt a siesta so end up hiking through the afternoon. It’s still a grueling uphill slog, but hiking with a light pack and beautiful scenery helps the miles fly by. I get to a long awaited water source in the evening and camp shortly afterwards, putting the wraps on a 25 mile day.

You are doing great! And so many miles today. You are in great shape and look so HAPPY!
