Today was spent covering the last 15 miles of the 19 mile water carry. It was a long and hot day with steep climbs that just kept coming one after another. We’ve reached the point where we’re all tired of the dry desert hills we’ve been climbing for the last two months, but we also know the Sierra are surprisingly close. We know they won’t be easy either but would welcome a change of scenery and shorter water carries.
We end up taking an almost 4 hour siesta as it seems to be one of our warmer days on trail. We eventually get to the water source, Robin Bird Spring, late in the evening and have enough time to take care of camp duties and eat before it gets dark. We’re now camped at mile 602, meaning we’re an even 100 miles from the Sierra. That’s a comforting thought as we go to sleep.

Hey Guys, so love keeping up with you.
Lakota schools ended Friday. Thursday was COH for Troop 940 and Gareth’s name was called for advancement to Tenderfoot, although no one expected him to walk up!
The Dunham Fam headed to our cabin Friday evening to do some projects like build a retaining wall and stain our lower deck. Today we hope to kayak and maybe explore a sinkhole cave on our property, then tomorrow we will hike Sand Gap Trail. Maybe we will send you guys some pics as a change of pace!
Happy Hiking!
