PCT: Day 34

We hiked from Silverwood Lake to Cajon Pass today which was one of our longer days on trail coming in at about 16 miles.  We had a decently long, cold, and windy climb out of the lake, but we’re treated to big views of a valley once we reached the other side.  We leap frogged Jeopardy and Wanderlox most if the day and spent most of our lunch break together.

The afternoon was a little slower climbing back out of the valley we dropped into earlier, but we had some fun interruptions by the very cool Horned Lizards that like to sun themselves on the trail.  Somewhere along the way we decided we’d stay in the only hotel in Cajon Pass as there weren’t great camping options for a few miles on either side of it.  The trail passes near a McDonald’s at Cajon Pass which seemed to be the motivation the kids needed to finish the day.  We ate more greasy fast food than anyone ever should, walked to the hotel, showered, put our dirty clothes back on, and went to bed.
