PCT: Day 33

The first goal today was to get antibiotics for Blue Lizard’s tick bite. She followed AKA’s suggestion and had a prescription sent to a nearby Walmart by 8:30. She had Gary (Scary Gary) drive her to pick it up while the kids and I stayed at Joshua Inn to finish packing. Once she returned with the prescription in hand we got a ride from Gary back to the trail.

The second goal of the day was to hike to Silverwood Lake and find a spot to stealth camp that we wouldn’t get kicked out of. We’ve heard of people getting asked to leave when camped near the lake and were trying to avoid that. The hike was fairly easy, winding along hillsides above a valley for most of the day. The last couple miles took us up a final climb and then down to Silverwood Lake.

We stopped at a boat-in day use picnic area with Jeopardy and Wanderlox who had also been at Kenny’s Place with us. There were a few others there as well. We skipped tents for the night and cowboy camped for the first, but definitely not the last, time on trail. We all slept well, and it was nice not to have to deal with the tents at night or the next morning.
