PCT: Day 30

Today is the day. We’re finally back on trail! We certainly enjoyed the time off, but there’s a simplicity to trail life we’ve been missing. Kenny dropped us off before breakfast so we could get an early start. It was a cold 2.5 mile climb back to the trail. The rest of the hike was easier with a mostly downhill day. It would however stay cold and windy all day.

Despite the downhill hiking moods weren’t great after lunch, and I think everyone was feeling the hangover from so many days off. We decided to make it a shorter day, mainly due to the cold, and started looking for sites in the afternoon. Just before getting to camp we got some trail magic from Cheshire Cat. He asked what fruit we wanted from a long list, and then proceeded to cut up fresh watermelon, honeydew, and pineapple for us. Cheshire Cat is providing trail magic up and down the trail this year, and we’re hoping we run into him again.

We found a sheltered but very cold campsite shortly after and ate as quickly as we could and hung out in the tents until bedtime.
