PCT: Day 19

Today started with a ride with Snap Happy and her dogs, Miles and Ruby, from Idyllwild to the trail junction with I-10. From there we started a hot climb with little shade, but with loads of blooming flowers all around us. We took a siesta around 1pm to ride out the hot part of the day before continuing. Late in the afternoon we ran into Sweetheart who we hadn’t seen since the first day and hiked the last few miles to camp with him. The extra company seemed to help Rockhopper get through the end of the day while Bat Boy and Blue Lizard ended the day mentally broken. Camp would rectify that quickly.

Camp for the night was at Whitewater Preserve which was a gem of a park half a mile off trail. It’s a small, hiker friendly park with bathrooms, water, electricity, and free camping. Added to that there was a group of families camped there with several kids of similar ages to ours. They immediately started playing together and had a great time the rest of the evening. More to come on that tomorrow.
