Catching Up

It’s been a minute since we last posted, or maybe more like a little over a year. We have a lot to catch up on so I’ll try to start with at least a list of what we’ve been up to, and if we can keep it going, more detailed posts to follow.

We spent a couple months in Portland last summer living with Matt and Jessi again and enjoying our typical Pacific Northwest activities of hiking, beach trips, and hanging out with friends. I picked up more PCT miles, and Gareth and I hiked the Wonderland Trail around Mt. Rainier.

We jumped back into home life after Portland. Angela and the kids got back into homeschooling, and I returned to in-person work.  The kids restarted Taekwondo with classes several days a week in preparation for local tournaments and Nationals. Gavin and I took a weekend trip to Chicago to support Matt and his brother in the Chicago Marathon. We filled the rest of our spare time volunteering at a local animal rescue and fostering kittens and cats as fall quickly turned to winter.

The first few months of 2025 flew by as I dealt with a hectic work schedule and several business trips, one of which took me to Istanbul. I was also busy training for a May rim to rim to rim hike in the Grand Canyon.

Summer came before we knew it, and we were headed to Salt Lake City for a week of Taekwondo Nationals for the kids. Following Nationals we continued west for another summer in Portland, this time staying from July through October. I pushed a lot of miles and finished the PCT, the kids played with friends and joined a local gaming group, we all met up with PCT friends and squeezed in a family trip to Olympic National Park.

We returned home in late October with a similar trend to last year with homeschooling, Taekwondo, kitten fostering, and work consuming our days. I’m off on yet another work trip, and am writing this somewhere over the Atlantic on the way to Poland.
