The next part of our journey would take us to Monterey to catch up with friends from the PCT, the Daley family. Before leaving for Monterey, we indulged in some of our kids’ favorite activities. The first was a stop at Green Apple Books in San Francisco, which was a large eclectic book store in an older building. The next stop was at a game store where the kids picked up Magic and Pokémon cards. From there, we had an uneventful couple hour drive south to Monterey.
We arrived at the Daley’s lovely home and were greeted by Marketa, the children, and Marketa’s parents who all made us feel at home right away. David got home from work a bit later and we all jumped back into conversations as if no time had passed since we last saw each other a year ago.
We also took some time to stretch our legs and take a trail David built, which connects their yard to the peaceful canyon below. Joshua, Sequoia, and Standa were excited to show our kids their outdoor space, which even included a small redwood grove with climbable trees.
