We continued towards Cascade Locks today, covering about 13 miles before stopping at the junction with the Eagle Creek trail we’d be taking out tomorrow. Most of the hike passed through shaded forests with abundant ripe huckleberries lining the trail. There was a stretch of blowdowns we had to navigate mid-day, but other than the that it was an easy hike.
The first couple miles tomorrow are supposed to be incredibly steep and slow, and there’s a longer alternate route people have been taking. After getting to camp I went to scout out the first mile of the trail down and didn’t find anything too rough so we decided to take our chances on the direct route down.
