Today was similar to yesterday. We got up and tackled the climb early, getting to the top we’ll before noon. After that it was all downhill through a burn with no shade for several miles. While the view of the burn leaves a lot to be desired, we’re treated to our first good views of the snow-capped Sierra in the distance. We pushed through into the early afternoon hours before stopping at a water source for lunch.
We debated continuing a couple more miles which would out us within 5 miles of Kennedy Meadows, but ultimately decided camping next to water and relaxing sounded better. It would still leave us an easy 8 miles for tomorrow. The kids explored the area while Blue Lizard took a nap and I tried to get caught up on blogging.
