It’s starting to feel like the trail is training us for the Sierra. Each day of this three day stretch starts with a long climb, followed by a long descent to a water source and campsites. Blue Lizard seems to have worn out another pair of shoes and is dealing with achy feet by mid-day most days. This lowers our daily mileage, but we’re still about a week ahead of schedule for getting to the Sierra so it doesn’t impact timing.
As we near the end of the hike we see a truck and a tent in the distance which is some much anticipated trail magic. Just before getting to it Rockhopper nearly steps on a rattlesnake that nonchalantly slithers across the trail and into a bush. Once at the truck we’re treated to cold drinks from trail angel Jim. He also let’s us know he’s making chili for dinner so we sit down and relax for the evening.

watch out for those snakes, Rockhopper!
