PCT: Day 53

We arrived at Hiker Town after a quick couple of miles.  It’s hard to explain this place but it is certainly unique.  It has a bunch of small buildings decorated as different town buildings like a bank, a florist shop, sheriff, etc.  More importantly, there are showers, charging stations, and regular rides to a nearby market and grill.

We pick up resupply boxes, get coffee, and figure out where we’re going to stay which happens to be in City Hall.  It might sound luxurious, but it’s basically a small shipping container with a City Hall facade and a single queen bed.  The big benefit is it has a porch that stays shaded most of the day.  One of the boxes we pick up is from Waterboy’s aunt and uncle and is loaded with Easter candy and toys for the kids. The kids especially enjoyed playing with the bubbles in the wind.

Our plan for the rest of the day and most of tomorrow is to take it easy before making an evening departure to night hike the aqueduct and windfarm section coming up next.

We head into the market for both lunch and dinner.  When we come back from dinner we see a rare site, other hikers with children. They are the Daley family who we’ve been following on Instagram (#daleywalk). They’re hiking with 3 children, all much younger than ours. We visit with them for a few minutes and will see them much more in the coming days.
