PCT: Day 49

We left Agua Dulce early to try to get ahead of the heat since we were going to start the day with a lot of uphill.  Midway through the climb we heard the familiar sound of a helicopter which proceeded to circle the valley below us before lowering a paramedic.  After Vikings experience we were all worried they were picking up another hiker.  After a few minutes it picked up the lone paramedic, hovered over a different location, and then flew over the hill out of view.  This was apparently training, but nonetheless was a bit nervy for all of us.

Once we reached the top of the climb we had lunch with General, who if you haven’t noticed, we’ve joined since leaving Acton.  We all get along great and have pretty similar mileage goals and it’s been great to have some extra company.

Mom Cut caught up with us as we were heading out from lunch.  The next few miles were downhill to a water cache.  Just after getting to it, we heard Cheshire Cat had arrived which meant fresh fruit for all.  We covered a few more steep uphill miles after the break before stopping for the night.  General made it to camp before us and scouted out a great spot for us.  We cowboy camped again to get an early start tomorrow.
