Day 46 took us the rest of the way to the LA RV Resort outside of Acton. We had resupply boxes to pickup and were likely going to take a zero the next day. We ran into Viking when we got there which was a little confusing since we thought he was a ways behind us. He was also sporting stitches on his forehead and quite the story.
He started early yesterday and must have passed us while we were breaking camp. He tripped and fell near the end of the day, landing on his face and splitting his forehead open. Others called 911, but with the remote location, the only option was a helicopter. It tunrs out this was the same helicopter we saw go by the day before, but had no idea it was headed to get someone we knew. He got airlifted to a nearby hospital, examined, stitched, and released and was already set to be back on trail the next day. Talk about tough.
After talking to Viking we checked in, showered, and did laundry through the rest of the afternoon. Mom Cut showed up mid-afternoon with even better news that General was camping a few miles away and would be in tomorrow morning. We hadn’t seen him in almost 300 miles and had really been hoping we’d meet up with him again. This solidified the plan to take a zero tomorrow. We ordered pizza for dinner and went to bed full and clean.
