We made it to Portland! After 4 days of driving, including a visit to Andrew’s parents along the way, we made it to our friends’ house in Portland. Our total drive time was somewhere around 42 hours with the longest day being over 15 hours. The kids were so excited to get to friends that they voted to get up no later than 5am on any of the travel days.
We ended up taking a southerly route through Albuquerque to avoid winter storms in Colorado and Wyoming. This mostly worked but we still hit snow in New Mexico, Utah, and Idaho. On the plus side, we grabbed some awesome breakfast burritos on the way through Albuquerque and stayed at a KOA in Moab with awesome views.
We have 3 days in Portland to recover from the drive before heading south to San Diego and the Southern Terminus of the PCT.

Every day, several times a day, as we look out our window with your house before us, we pray for your family and your adventure! Burritos, now you’re talkin!!!

Gareth and Gavin were convinced they didn’t want burritos. After taking a few bites they were officially converts to the the Albuquerque breakfast burritos.
